About Me

Hi, I’m Taylor—maker, mom, wife, and the heart behind Grow Leather Co.

I’m married to my high school sweetheart, Garrett, and we’re raising our sweet boy, Kelton, in a little valley in Northern Utah. We’ve also got two energetic border collies who keep life interesting.

I started leatherworking in April 2021 after stumbling across some projects online. At first, I thought, “That can’t be too hard—I can totally do that.” Turns out, I was very wrong. With nothing but a five-tool beginner set from the craft store and a whole lot of determination, I dove in headfirst. It was tough, but I quickly realized that what started as curiosity was turning into passion.

Now, Grow Leather Co. is my creative home. Every piece I make is designed to be both beautiful and built to last—a little slice of Western tradition crafted with love and attention to detail.

When I’m not at the workbench, you’ll probably find me chasing Kelton around, helping out as a part-time vet tech, or enjoying small-town life with my family. I’m a little awkward, a little weird (in the best way), and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Do you want me to make it shorter and punchier (like a quick, scroll-friendly “about me”), or do you prefer this storytelling style that lets people really get to know you?

Hey! My name is Taylor, and I am the owner of Grow Leather Co.! Honestly, I have no clue of what to say about myself or my business, so I will just start with some random facts about me! I am married to my high school sweetheart, Garrett. We have a sweet baby named Kelton! We have 2 border collies! I tend to be kinda awkward and kind of weird (like in a funny good way)! I am a full time mom and maker, and a part time Vet Tech! I live in a little valley that is located Northern Utah, and I love it! Okay. Now that you know 5 facts about me, let me tell you a little bit about Grow Leather Co. I started dabbling in leatherworking back in April of 2021. I had seen a few videos and pictures online of some really cute leather projects and I thought to myself, "That can't be too hard. I can definitely do that same exact thing." So I got started. But boy, was I wrong. It was much harder than I anticipated. I went to my local craft store and picked up a beginner's set with five tools. I started practicing on a scrap piece of leather and, well, it was ugly. But I was proud of it nonetheless. I took that practice piece out to my grandpa's house. He makes leather harnesses for draft horses and has been doing so for decades. When I showed him my work, the first thing out of his mouth was, "Well, that's ugly. Try again." I thought his reaction was funny and endearing. So, I went and bought a few more tools and items to make the process a little easier. And that was that! It's been almost 4 years since then, and I'd say that I am getting better with every project. I've learned a lot, and I'm excited to keep improving.

Got it, Taylor—thanks for pasting the full thing! It already has a ton of charm, but I can tighten it up, smooth the flow, and keep your personality shining through. Here’s a refreshed version that feels warm, relatable, and professional while still keeping your humor and story:

About Me

Hey! I’m Taylor—the maker behind Grow Leather Co.

I’m married to my high school sweetheart, Garrett, and together we’re raising our sweet boy, Kelton, in a little valley in Northern Utah. We’ve also got two border collies who keep us on our toes. I’m a full-time mom and maker, part-time vet tech, and (if I’m being honest) just a little awkward in a funny, good way.

Now for the story of Grow Leather Co.

I started dabbling in leatherwork back in April of 2021 after seeing a few projects online and thinking, “That doesn’t look too hard—I can totally do that.” Spoiler alert: it was harder than I thought. Armed with a five-piece beginner kit from the local craft store, I gave it a go. My first project was, well… let’s just say “beautifully ugly.”

I showed that piece to my grandpa, who has been making leather harnesses for draft horses for decades. His honest reaction? “Well, that’s ugly. Try again.” It wasn’t harsh—it was the kind of straightforward, funny encouragement that lit a spark in me.

So I did try again. And again. And again. Four years later, here I am—still learning, still improving, and still falling more in love with this craft every day.

At Grow Leather Co., my goal is to create pieces that are as durable as they are beautiful—handcrafted items that carry a bit of tradition, a touch of personality, and a whole lot of heart.
